Retreats in Costa Rica – safe and easy?

May 31, 2021

Planning retreats in Costa Rica this year is much more attainable than you may think. With some key changes and extra precautions, visitors can still expect extraordinary experiences in this lush tropical destination.

The allure of travel is in the discovery of the unexpected, and while the pandemic was just that, halting all of our plans, it has not quieted our desires to explore. We are now more eager than ever. With the return of traveling liberties drawing near, we are all itching to get moving.

Costa Rica – a destination dedicated to sustainability, nature, adventure, and culture – a country full of wonders. An ideal place to see natural beauty, explore new sensations, create lasting memories, and reconnect to your inner voice. A haven for transformative retreats as well as a place for much-needed respite for solo travelers. Even if its treasures are hard to reach for you at the moment, now is the time to plot, plan and lay the foundation for your exciting travels to come.

Travel is possible

Costa Rica’s aerial borders are open to all countries, without exception. Most airlines have resumed travel to Costa Rica. Travelers may enter the country by simply fulfilling a few requirements. For instance, filling out a digital epidemiological form and showing proof of insurance that covers extended lodging and medical expenses. Neither quarantine nor negative COVID-19 test results are required for entry to Costa Rica. That being said, many leaders ask participants to be tested or to self-quarantine before traveling, to increase safety.

Update: As of August 1, 2021, tourists under 18 years of age and those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can enter the country without a travel policy. The last dose of the vaccine must be applied at least 14 days prior to arrival in Costa Rica.

Upon departure from Costa Rica, many countries require a negative test result to be shown before boarding flights. Testing is widely available throughout Costa Rica. A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result is delivered within 48 hours by email, and rapid antigen tests can yield results almost immediately with a written lab report within two hours.

Nationwide protocols keep safety at the forefront

Beginning at the airport and continuing throughout the country, strict protocols are in place that require the use of face masks, temperature control, social distancing, frequent hand washing, and regular sanitization of high-contact areas. Contactless payment and correspondence methods have also been widely implemented.

Costa Rica, a destination that speaks of resilient communities, friendly smiles, and a “Pura Vida” lifestyle, is making every effort to protect its visitors, allowing you to live magical experiences in a surrounding that uplifts your soul.

A secluded destination enhances the retreat experience

In selecting a retreat destination, organizers and travelers alike are now placing an increased emphasis on safety. Locations previously targeted for their famed attractions are moving out of focus. The demand is growing for smaller, more remote properties with plenty of wide-open spaces and outdoor-friendly amenities that promise reduced interaction with crowds.

To demonstrate their dedication to providing safe environments, quality venues have implemented additional protocols. These include rigorous cleaning measures, contactless check-in, increased access to hand washing and sanitizing stations, and a flexible rebooking policy.
